The Philippines at Osaka Expo 2025: Woven Together for a Better Future
The Philippines proudly unveils its pavilion for the Osaka Expo 2025 in Japan. Designed by Carlo Calma Consultancy, the Philippine Pavilion, titled “Woven,” reflects the country’s connections to nature, cultural heritage, and community values. With the theme “Nature, Culture & Community: Woven Together for a Better Future,” it highlights Filipino creativity, diversity, and aspirations for sustainability.
A Design Rooted in Tradition and Progress
Inspired by Filipino weaving, the pavilion symbolizes interconnection and resilience. Featuring over 1,000 rattan threads and 212 handwoven panels crafted by artisans from across the Philippines, the design honors traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern innovation. These panels, representing the country’s 18 ethnolinguistic regions, celebrate cultural diversity and creativity.
Theme Highlights: Nature, Culture & Community
The pavilion’s exhibits explore three core pillars:
- Nature: Showcasing the Philippines’ megabiodiversity, the pavilion uses natural materials and exhibits to promote environmental preservation.
- Culture: Demonstrating the fusion of tradition and innovation, it transforms natural and waste materials into sustainable products using emerging technologies.
- Community: Reflecting Filipino unity, the pavilion invites visitors to experience a Fiesta spirit through performances and interactive exhibits.
