Call for Filipino Youth Leaders: Join the 50th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP)
The Cabinet Office of Japan, in cooperation with ASEAN Member States, proudly announces the upcoming 50th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP)—a landmark initiative that continues to strengthen regional ties through youth engagement, cultural exchange, and leadership development.
Scheduled from January 3 to February 5, 2027, this milestone edition of SSEAYP will bring together outstanding young leaders from across ASEAN and Japan for an unforgettable journey. Participants will travel across Malaysia, Cambodia, and the Philippines, engaging in dynamic programs both onboard and on land.
SSEAYP has long been recognized as one of the most prestigious youth exchange programs in the region. Over the decades, it has created a powerful network of alumni committed to promoting friendship, mutual understanding, and collaboration across borders. The 50th iteration promises to build on this legacy with even deeper engagement and impact.
Participants can expect a rich lineup of activities designed to foster both personal and professional growth. These include courtesy visits, group discussions, field studies, homestays, and interactions with local communities. Onboard the ship, youths will participate in solidarity group activities, peer-learning seminars, and national presentations, providing opportunities to share perspectives and learn from diverse cultures.
Beyond cultural exchange, the program emphasizes leadership development in a global context. It aims to cultivate young individuals who can take ownership of pressing global challenges and translate ideas into meaningful action. Through dialogue and collaboration, participants are encouraged to develop solutions to social issues affecting their communities and the wider world.
The Philippines, through the National Youth Commission, will send a National Leader and a delegation of Participating Youths to represent the country. Selected delegates will not only showcase Filipino culture and values but also engage in meaningful exchanges that contribute to regional understanding and cooperation.
As SSEAYP celebrates its 50th voyage, it stands as a testament to the enduring importance of youth diplomacy. For Filipino youth, this is more than just a program—it is an opportunity to become part of a lifelong network, gain global perspectives, and step into a leadership role in shaping the future of ASEAN and Japan relations.
Interested applicants are encouraged to stay updated through official channels and prepare for a life-changing experience.
