Japan’s New Work Visa System and the Power of J.TEST Certification
Japan’s Technical Intern Training Program will be progressively phased out and replaced by the new “Employment for Skill Development” system, which is scheduled to begin in April 2027. This new framework is designed to support both skill development and long-term employment opportunities in Japan.
The J.TEST Practical Japanese Proficiency Test was officially recognized in 2007 by China’s former Ministry of Labor (currently the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, equivalent to Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare). Applicants in China who achieve F Level or higher are officially registered with the government authority.
Obtaining a J.TEST certification can greatly increase your opportunities to study, work, and build a career connected with Japan. Many Japanese companies highly value practical Japanese communication skills, especially in industries such as manufacturing, hospitality, caregiving, food service, IT, and office support.
By passing J.TEST, applicants can strengthen their qualifications and improve their chances of obtaining employment opportunities related to Japan in the future.
J.TEST examinations are scheduled six times a year, providing applicants with multiple opportunities to challenge the test and improve their Japanese language qualifications.
