“Assess Your Japanese Skills with J.TEST – The Practical Proficiency Test”
The J.TEST Practical Japanese Proficiency Test has been conducted since 1991 as an objective assessment of Japanese language skills for non-native speakers. Each year, approximately 70,000 people in the world, including company employees, international students, and students at Japanese language schools, take the exam. The test is held six times a year.
To secure a job, pursue further education, or handle practical work using Japanese, a high level of Japanese proficiency is essential. By taking the J.TEST, you can assess your current skills and set your next goal. Measure your Japanese proficiency with the J.TEST!
Features of J.TEST
The J.TEST has six key features:
① Three test types:
The “A-C Level Test” for advanced learners.
The “D-E Level Test” for beginner to intermediate learners.
The “F-G Level Test” for entry-level learners.
② Consistent difficulty and frequent test opportunities:
The A-C Level Test and D-E Level Test are held six times a year.
The F-G Level Test is held twice a year in Japan ; however, in the Philippines, it is available at every session.
Since the difficulty level remains constant, repeated attempts help track progress in Japanese proficiency.
③ Assessment of “practical” and “real-world” Japanese skills:
The test places a strong emphasis on listening comprehension, featuring natural and commonly used expressions.
It includes written response questions such as kanji reading/writing and short sentence composition, which are not found in other tests.
(The F-G Level Test consists entirely of multiple-choice questions.)
J.TEST evaluates practical language abilities.
④ Capable of measuring proficiency beyond JLPT N1:
The A-C Level Test assesses advanced communication skills, exceeding the proficiency level of JLPT N1.
⑤ Issuance of certification:
Test-takers who achieve a certain score or higher receive an official certification.
Additionally, all examinees receive a score report and reference materials by mail.
